SCALAR PLATES

For a manufacturer of satellite communications systems, we manufacture several sizes of Scalar Plates. These are machined from aluminum to close tolerances, and are used to direct microwaves in a way similar to the way a lens directs light waves.
WHEELS FOR THE WORLD SOLAR CHALLENGE

These wheels were made for a solar-powered car which competed in the World Solar Challenge. This is a race held every two years from Darwin, Australia to Adelaide, crossing the continent north-south, a distance of 1,878 miles. The wheels are 17″ (432 mm) in diameter weigh 4.8 lb (2.2 kg) each. They are machined from solid 6061-T6 aluminum plate. All machining is done on the CNC mill, with a cycle time of 16 hours per wheel.
DRILLING FOR FROZEN ROCK SAMPLES ON MARS

A robotics company was developing a drill to go on a vehicle being sent to Mars. We made a number of prototypes of stainless steel and aluminum, and finally several copies of a final version in titanium. One of these drills is still on Mars.
